The ecumenical department in the Mecklenburg church district has three main areas of focus. It is responsible for helping to organise and support ecumenical partnerships, refugee support within church parishes as well as development education. In this way it has a holistic picture and is aware of its responsibility towards God’s creation. Its aim is to create awareness within church parishes, church and deaconal institutions through training workshops on a variety of themes, projects and campaigns such as the fasting action ‘7 weeks with’ as well as questions regarding globalisation and world-wide justice. The ecumenical department supports church parishes, ecclesiastical institutions, partner groups and individuals in fulfilling their responsibility including seeing themselves as part of a world-wide ecumenical community. This department in Mecklenburg has partners in Tanzania, Rumania, Kasakhstan, Lichfield in England and Ohio in the U.S.A. These partnerships enable encounters, exchanges and a widening of horizons. The ecumenical department also enables international church services and international encounters.

agl-Fachforum Internationale Kooperationen und Partnerschaften
International partnerships are an important component in implementing the ‘great transformation’ and Agenda 2013. But what about the much called for ‘at eye level’ behaviour in north-south partnerships? Which inspiring examples and tips for international cooperation, learning networks and political alliances are there beyond just developmental cooperation? In specialist forums there is a Germany-wide network of qualified promoters and other experts who are active in international cooperation issues. Amongst the themes they cover are volunteering, international cooperation, north-south partnerships as well as winning the younger generation. We discuss how obstacles can be overcome and how conditions for success can be achieved through partnership activities in north-south partnerships. Vera Dwors, who is the national coordinator of the specialist forum brings one world promoters and multipliers who are involved in international cooperation partnerships together. She is responsible for the focus of the nationwide specialist forum and works on the main emphases for specific papers. She informs members about future events such as relevant specialist workshops, publications and creates opportunities for discussion and networking.

One of them is the ‘Bridge-it!’ dialogue; an uncomplicated way of meeting other active students to find out about their south-north projects. The aim is to connect people. Any group of students or their teachers or someone who is in charge of them, can be a host as well as any of these who has or wants to initiate a project with a group of young people in the global south and who want to exchange their ideas or have a project day focussed on development policy or partnerships with the global south.

Eine-Welt-Promotor*innen M-V
Global sustainability starts at home; on our own doorsteps, in our own neighbourhoods, region or municipality. Then our actions such as our consumer behaviour influences what happens here and in other parts of the world. Many, mostly non profit-making, voluntary organisations can show so that we can act responsibly. The One World Promoter programme supports this commitment and hence involvement for a fair and sustainable world.

Austausch macht Schule
Children and young people are positively influenced in their development by international encounters: they gain self-confidence, acquire a different view of the world and expand their social and linguistic skills. International experiences abroad and with other cultures help pupils to deal with challenges in a globalised world. They often promote commitment to the general public and thus also have great social potential. “”Exchange makes school”” is therefore committed to anchoring international student and youth exchange as a valuable “”place of education”” in the education system in the long term. We find: Every pupil should have the opportunity to participate in an international exchange project. On our website you will find further suggestions and support for international school exchange.
