In 2012 both towns signed a declaration of intent for their cooperation. Since then there has been a fruitful exchange between institutions regarding strategic, forward looking and sustainable town planning; environmental management and how to maximise the tourism potential. This cooperation, through participation in international projects, helps the town to become more closely connected to Europe.
