How do people live in other parts of the world? And how do we live? What can we do to improve living together in one world? What are the social, economic, ecological and political factors which play a role in fair cooperative sustainable development? This education competition calls students in years 1 to 13 to take part in this competition which deals with global development themes every other year. The aim of the competition is to make young people of all ages more aware of global development within the classroom: to get them active in creating texts, art work, plays, posters, digital presentations or taking photos. The contribution can be in any form. What counts is that the ideas are related to global development.

Johannes Stelling Preis gegen Fremdenfeindlichkeit und Rechtsextremismus
The SPD has awarded the Johannes Stelling prize of 2,000 Euros since 2006. This prize is a memorial to the social democratic Minister President of Mecklenburg Schwerin from 1921 to 1924. He was murdered in Berlin along with other upright democrats in the night from the 21st to 22nd June 1933 because of his unfaltering stance against the national socialist dictatorship. This prize is awarded annually to a person or initiative who are active in fighting against right-wing, xenophobic, anti-semitic and/or racist or other discriminatory tendencies. The SPD welcomes suggestions for possible award winners from the general public before the 30th April each year along with their name, address and short description of the activities. One of them will then receive the Stelling award at a special gala celebration in Schwerin’s palace. Suggestions can be sent to the following address.
