Project management in development work, seminar 7th September 2019
Are you involved in a development organisation and you are planning an activity centred on global learning, or measures concerning the sustainable development goals or a human rights project in Tanzania? You want to design your project so that it is meaningful and successful in terms of developmental issues? You want to be able to verify that your project is on the right path and to be able to react swiftly and flexibly to any deviations? Project management offers an outstanding way of planning, regulation and control. This professional development workshop is aimed at permanent and voluntary employees in civil society organisations who want to discover and learn more about the planning and implementation of development/political projects and to find out about the methods and instruments that can be used. This workshop was supported by Engagement Global with funds from the Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ)

Pictures, language, projections, workshop 16th-18th August 2019
In cooperation with Phoenix e.V. we organised a workshop at the Schullandheim Muess in Schwerin, focusing on a power- and discrimination-sensitive approach. It was primarily about “images, language, projections”. The depiction of and the production of knowledge about people from the project areas is a largely unreflected practice among NGOs. Sponsorship programmes, public relations materials or fundraising say a lot about how we see and perceive our project partners in the Global South. Black people and People of Color are often shown in passive, suffering, dependent positions and reduced to these. These pictures spread a picture of the Global South in German society that contradicts the goals of the educational work done (breaking down prejudices, changing perspectives, etc.). The workshop served to deal with language and representation sensitive to discrimination and to test alternatives.
Global School Partnerships M-V - Examples, Design Recommendations and Funding Opportunities, School Partnership Day 19th June 2019
School partnerships with schools south of the equator are a valuable instruments for learning globally. They provide all involved insights into global interrelationships and can foster solidarity in both action and learning. In the context of equal relationships between the north and the south, the school partnerships aim at developing young people’s social and intercultural competences as well as offering them tools to use when working on being part of a world which is viable for the future. Are there any north-south school partnerships in Mecklenburg West-Pomerania? How can a school partnership with on equal footing be conceived? Which support and aid programmes are available? These and other questions were the main focus of the first School Partnership Day in Rostock’s Town Hall. A photo documentation can be found here:

Tanzania Day, information event 16th June 2019
Traditionally the Tanzania Day in Mecklenburg West-Pomerania is organised by the ecumenical department of the Protestant Church and a host parish in the federal state (as well as representatives from a parish in the Pare Diocese in Tanzania). This year the Tanzania Day took place in Rostock in co-operation with the Protestant Lutheran ‘Ufer’ parish and the One World network MV. We want to bring church and secular initiatives who have partners in Tanzania together to make the wide variety of projects more visible. A photo documentation can be found here:

Widening horizons - Communal Partnerships in One World, Conference 7th May 2019
Municipal partnerships are an important part of development policy. But why should local authorities become involved in development policy? What could such a partnership look like? Which issues can be tackled? Are there financial opportunities for municipal partnerships? These and other questions as well as the possibility of municipal partnerships were the focus of the workshop. This workshop is a co-operation between the one World Network and Mecklenburg West-Pomerania the state chancellery, the Mecklenburg West-Pomerania central administrative regional office as well as town and local government authorities.

Child Protection in International Project Work, workshop 15th-16th March 2019
We deal with the topic of child protection, as many development policy actors address their educational and project work to children and young people. This leads to a number of important questions for those involved. Do we recognise the dangers of endangering the welfare of children in our development work? What is child protection? What are the categories of violence? What measures can we take to protect children/young people within our work? What is a child protection policy? In order to protect children from abuse and ill-treatment and to avert damage to the organisation, many funding institutions have recently called for a child protection policy. The development of a child protection policy must be a process in every organization. In this workshop, we would like to offer associations and groups awareness-raising and support. Basics will be worked out, which can be deepened individually in each project. A photo documentation of the workshop can be found here:

Global partnerships: design ideas and food for thought, workshop 26th-27th October 2018
On the first day Abdel Amine Mohammed gave us a historical-theoretical introduction to development co-operation. This deals, among other things, with power structures and discrimination. He took the stance of the partners from the south with co-operation and made suggestions as how north-south partnerships can function well. Apart from that the work of north-south migrant and diaspora organisations were presented. On Saturday the theme was how to make a partnership fit for the future. In addition Erbin Dikongue made suggestions for the following question: What role do NGO`s play in planning and carrying out a project? In which ways and at which points can the partners form the north learn from the colleagues in the south? How can change be effected so that this is not a one-sided intrusion? What needs to be taken into consideration as the ‘donor’ organisation? How can transparent communication be achieved? A further main issue in this workshop was the question of how synergy between the international co-operation in the educational and public relations work in Mecklenburg West-Pomerania can be achieved. How can we communicate our experience in our work abroad and the knowledge and concerns of our partners in our public relations and educational work in Mecklenburg West-Pomerania? Network meeting global partnerships M-V, 10th-11th November 2017
In the first South North Partnership network meeting getting to know each other as well as an exchange of projects was in the forefront. We discussed what we understood by ‘partnership’ and considered what a partnership can look like. On the second day there were inputs concerning the challenges of a partnership from the pint of view of a partner from the south. This was followed by a plenary sessions dealing with how to apply for funding as well as sources of funding. A photo documentation can be found here:
